Alan Ross Spector
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist with a private practice in Kailua, HI. I am secular, humanistic, and believe that there are many paths for human beings to achieve happiness in their lives.
When I work with you as a couple, my focus is exclusively on your love and the meaning marriage holds for you. I also appreciate spiritual and ritual practices that enhance one's sense of meaning in life as well as connectedness to other individuals, family, and community. I am an openly gay man and am legally married to my husband. In 2007, I co-founded Equality Hawaii, the state's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender advocacy organization and served as its Co-Chair from 2007-2011. I was one of the lead advocates for passage of Hawaii's Civil Union Act in 2011 and Marriage Equality Act in 2013. The National Association of Social Workers Hawaii Chapter presented me with the 2012 Social Worker of the Year award in Social Justice and Community Advocacy. My officiant license number is 2012-00012 and was issued by the State of Hawaii Department of Health.
